Who can be my supervisor?
All LIRA Lab members holding teaching titles can be independent supervisors or co-supervisors for master’s and PhD theses. Members holding research titles can act as independent supervisors or co-supervisors for PhD theses and as co-supervisors for master’s theses.
LIRA Lab members may serve as supervisors only at the faculties where they are employed, but can take on the role of co-supervisor for research conducted at other institutions.

What topics can I choose for my master’s or PhD thesis?
Within LIRA Lab, you can receive supervision for research in the fields of individual differences, social psychology i mental health. More specific topics that LIRA Lab members specialize in can be found on their personal pages.
Can I publish my master’s thesis or PhD thesis?
Yes, this is highly encouraged, and we will provide you with help and support throughout this process! When supervising master’s and PhD research, we pay special attention to its potential for publication—from the selection of current and relevant topics, followed by the use of modern data collection and analysis techniques, to ensuring concise academic writing that can be more easily adapted into a journal article. Many theses’ studies supervised within the LIRA Lab have already been published in leading international journals.
We encourage you to obtain your doctoral degree (at the Faculty of Philosophy) by publishing a collection of thematically related articles in leading international journals instead of submitting a traditional PhD dissertation. For more information, please refer to the Rules of Doctoral Academic Studies (including amendments and revisions) and consult your supervisor.
If you wish, you may also write your PhD thesis in English, allowing your research to be evaluated by international experts in the field.

Open Science
While working on their master’s or PhD theses under the mentorship of LIRA Lab, students have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with various open science practices, such as preregistration, data sharing, sharing analytical scripts, and research materials.

Awards for Student Papers
Katarina Marić Foundation
Students supervised by LIRA Lab members regularly make it to the top five finalists or receive the Katarina Marić Foundation award for the best master’s thesis in psychology in Serbia.
So far, the award for the best thesis has been awarded to: Marija Kušić (supervisor: Goran Knežević) in 2020, Irena Pavlović (supervisor: Zoran Pavlović) in 2019, Katarina Vulić (supervisors: Danka Purić and Jovana Bjekić) in 2018, Marija Čolić (supervisor: Iris Žeželj) in 2016, Nikola Milosavljević (supervisor: Iris Žeželj) in 2016, and Katarina Jovanović (supervisor: Iris Žeželj) in 2010.
Additionally, over 20 students supervised by LIRA Lab members have been shortlisted for the award.
Galerija sa uručenja nagrada
The „Josip Berger“ Award from the Serbian Psychological Society or the best master’s thesis related to practical psychological work was awarded to Jana Dimoski in 2023 (supervisors: LIRA members Tamara Džamonja Ignjatović and Maša Vukčević Marković).
The Annual Award of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, for the best PhD thesis defended in 2017, was awarded to Sanja Andrić Petrović (supervisor: Nađa Marić Bojović, co-supervisor: Goran Knežević).
